KEN BLOCK SHOWS THE HOONICORN RTR, HIS BATSH * T RETRO MODERN ALL-WHEEL DRIVE GYMKHANA SEVEN FORD MUSTANG
NOV 4., Las Vegas, NV: Hoonigan Racing Division's Ken Block is pleased to present its Gymkhana SEVEN car for the first time at SEMA 2014 on the Ford stand. The car? A 1965 Ford Mustang notchback, a world-wide unique four-wheel drive in the world. A collaboration between Block, Hoonigan and RTR colleagues Ford and Monster Energy athlete Vaughn Gittin Jr's auto-tuning brand - the car shares the limelight with Block in its upcoming Gymkhana SEVEN video project.
Built in the course of two years at ASD Motorsports in Charlotte, NC, the car is based on a 1965 Ford Mustang notchback - the iconic pony-car celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The car was heavily modified by RTR and ASD Motorsports to have a Roubh Yates V8 of 410 cubic inches with 845 horsepower, paired with a unique Sadev four-wheel drive system. The styling for the build uses a mix of influences and inspiration that includes the current generation of WRC cars, DTM cars and even toy cars from Block's youth. These elements have been harnessed through collaboration between Block and RTR - since RTR is known for its Mustang expertise - and integrated into the build.
"I'm thrilled to be making this car public for the first time at SEMA's Ford booth," said Block. "This is a project I've been working on for two years, so seeing it fully in action and doing it for Gymkhana SEVEN was absolutely amazing, and I also knew working with Vaughn [Gittin Jr.] and his RTR team was the right choice for this project, as the Mustangs are their world, but they really went beyond that car.The attention to detail in the manufacture and the bodywork drives me crazy. This is the best Gymkhana car that I have ever had. "
To see Block's Gymkhana SEVEN Mustang in person at the Ford booth on the SEMA show stage, the car will be shown to the public for the entire show.
