With more than a million units produced, the Simson Schwalbe is the most successful two-wheeler in German two-wheeler history in terms of production volume. Manufactured in the "vehicle and hunting weapons factory Ernst Thälmann", the Simson works in Suhl, the Schwalbe was the first model of the newly developed Vogel series at Simson from 1964. Vehicles such as the "Spatz", "Star", "Sperber" and "Habicht" were also manufactured in large numbers in Suhl.
